Hunting
St. Ignace welcomes hunters and sportsmen young and old from around the state and region. Hunting is a major recreational activity in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The U.P. has rich harvesting opportunities each fall and winter during both bow and gun seasons for a variety of game. Thousands of acres of public lands full of deer, bear, partridge, turkey, geese, ducks, rabbit, squirrel, and other quary surround St. Ignace. Marshes, coastal flyways, and ponds fill with waterfowl during the great migrations. Forests and fields support herds of deer and shelter many other species. A day along the shore in boats or blinds, or perhaps a week at hunting camp will create bonds to last a lifetime. In St. Ignace we know hunting, and we welcome others who want to create their own experiences with family and friends.
Hunting stories shared here can only be rivaled by those told by area fishermen. It's a great time to be in town, and an even better time to be outdoors. Hunters form all over the Midwest gather in the U.P. to celebrate Northern Michigan's sportsman's holiday, the opening of rifle whitetail deer season. Fluorescent orange is the official color as sportsmen head for camps throughout the U.P.
Many local businesses offer advice and supplies to avid hunters. A wide variety of lodging options and outfitters help increase your chances for a trophy. We're a great home base for your next hunting adventure.
